Description:
AES-525 Pre-Prime removes rust and film, preparing metal surfaces for coating. The convenient gel formula mixes easily with water. It reacts with rust and oxide films to restore metal surfaces, leaving a thin film to prevent further rusting. AES-525 Pre-Prime removes mineral buildup, water stains, and debris. It also removes the film that is present on new galvanized metal.
Mixing:
The correct dilution rate is very important!
Mix 1 part AES-525 Pre-Prime with 20 parts water. Coverage is approximately 400 to 500 square feet per gallon. Be sure to consider metal corrugation when determining all material requirements. Typically increase the square feet by 20% to ensure that enough material is ordered.
Application:
AES-525 Pre-Prime can be applied using a pump up sprayer or brush. Remove as much grime, dirt, grit, and sludge as possible before applying AES-525 Pre-Prime. Apply at a rate of 400 to 500 square feet per gallon of mixed solution (1 part AES-525 Pre-Prime to 20 parts water). After application, agitate the surface with a stiff brush, broom or mop. Allow 10 minutes for AES-525 Pre-Prime to penetrate the surface. Rinse with high pressure fresh water.
Do not leave AES-525 Pre-Prime on metal surfaces for more than 15 minutes or allow to dry on the surface.
General:
AES-525 Pre-Prime should be used in well-ventilated areas. Surfaces should be free of foreign matter. Apply AES-525 Pre-Prime at temperatures above 40 F. Do not apply when freezing may occur. Surface temperatures should not exceed 150 F and air temperatures should not exceed 100 F.
