Caulking Compound AES-300

Description:

AES-300 is a polyamide, two-component epoxy base sealant.  This compound chemically cures into an elastic and flexible body which will not dry out or harden after curing.  It does not oxidize or absorb moisture.

Application Areas:

AES-300 is an interior or exterior water tight joint sealant for curtain walls, prefab panels, roofs, flashing, coping, and air ducts.  It can also be used between similar and dissimilar materials, vertical, and/or horizontal joint work. In extreme cases AES-300 can be applied to wet surfaces and if necessary can cure underwater.

Features:

AES-300 has excellent adhesion to all types of metal, concrete, asphalt, and wood.  AES-300 is non-staining on masonry surfaces, and no primer is required.  This product is also very resilient at low temperatures, and has been tested in boiling water for up to 8 hours.  AES-300 can also be painted over.

Resistance:

AES-300 is unaffected by jet fuel, gasoline, oil, water, caustics, most acids, oil derivatives, and hydrocarbons.  For unusual exposures, consult your AES representative.

Preparation:

Joint surfaces should be free from all grease, oil, dirt, and other contaminants.  Remove all scaling paint, loose or heavy chalk, or other contaminants.  Concrete expansion joints should have each side mechanically abraded for optimal adhesion.  This can be accomplished with a masonry or diamond blade mounted on a circular saw or grinder.

Mixing:

The mixing of Part A and B is very important!  AES-300 has a mixing ratio of 4 parts “B” to 1 part “A” (4:1).  Use a power drill and mixing paddle to thoroughly combine both parts.  Mix for at least one minute per gallon.  Allow idle activation time for a minimum of 10 minutes.

Note: Partial mixtures are forbidden.  All parts (Part A & B) must be used and mixed as supplied.

Applications:

AES-300 can be applied using; a paint brush, bulk gun, or a putty knife.  Material can be finished with wet hands or tools.

Clean Up:

Application equipment should be cleaned immediately with Lacquer Thinner.  Use White Cider Vinegar to clean hands and skin.  Do not allow AES- to remain on tools!  Once it sets and is cured, it is difficult to remove.
